Hierros Álava is a company dedicated to the recycling and reuse of metals, with over 35 years of experience in the industry. Since our founding in 1988 as a limited company, we have specialized in the purchase, sale, and processing of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap, offering sustainable solutions that support the circular economy and help reduce the environmental impact of the metallurgical industry.
Waste management
Located in the El Campillo Industrial Park nº 4 (Gallarta), within the municipality of Abanto, Bizkaia, we have a strategic position on the left bank of the Nervión River. Our proximity to Bilbao (18 km) and the Port of Bilbao (6 km) allows us to efficiently manage the transportation and distribution of materials both nationally and internationally.
Circular economy
Hierros Álava operates under strict quality and environmental responsibility standards as an authorized manager and transporter of non-hazardous waste.
Committed to sustainability and the green and circular economy, Hierros Álava is part of the responsible production and consumption chain that, through material recycling and reintroducing them into the market, reduces the consumption of natural resources. As defined by the European Parliament, “The circular economy is a model of production and consumption that involves sharing, renting, reusing, repairing, renewing, and recycling existing materials and products as many times as possible to create added value.”
In this way, at Hierros Álava, we promote sustainable development. This is the purpose of the Circular Economy, which encourages the use of materials that are waste from some industries, turning them into valuable raw materials for others, improving the efficiency of natural resources.
Recovery of Non-Hazardous Waste
The main activity we carry out at our facilities consists of the collection, reception, classification, selection, storage, recovery, and dispatch of ferrous and non-ferrous metal waste, originating from various industrial sectors and others. Specifically, Hierros Álava provides raw materials for the operation of steel mills, foundries, and the steel and metallurgical market.
